It’s impossible not to fall in love with the unspoilt Blackdown Hills dotted with small dairy farms and flint farmhouses that looked the same a century ago

The Blackdown Hills is a protected landscape in Devon and Somerset. You can walk from our front door onto the network of walking trails without needing to get in a car.
Our nearest towns are Chard, Axminster and Honiton. We’re surrounded by small villages with friendly pubs and excellent walking country. Lyme Regis is 25 minutes away for fossil hunting, ice creams on the beach and wild swimming.

Following extensive renovation, the house is now fit for the modern era and kitted out with everything you need for a perfect stay in the country. The kitchen has two ovens, two fridges and a Quooker tap; there’s a drawing room with open fireplace and a cosy playroom with huge television and cupboards filled with toys. We have books all over the house, comfortable beds with crisp linen and gallons of hot water for luxurious baths.
If you’re celebrating, there’s a spacious hall with piano, bar and hidden drinks fridge and the farmhouse table in the kitchen seats 12. We even have a palatial dog bed and blankets. Outside in the barn there’s table football, ping pong and a mud kitchen.

We fell in love with the Blackdown Hills when my parents moved here more than a decade ago. It’s how the country should be, with tiny lanes, small dairy farms and hedges brimming with cow parsley. The fields surrounding the house are grazed by Herdwick sheep and there are rare butterflies and orchids in our meadows as well as families of deer. Our farmhouse is where we go to unwind with our five children, let off steam in garden, go to the beach and pub and cook delicious food produced by the incredible farmers around our house.
